Individual Fellowships (IF) 2016 - Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions

Objectiu de la convocatòria:

Supports experienced researchers undertaking mobility between countries, optionally to the non-academic sector.

 

Aim

To enhance the creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers wishing to diversify their individual competence in terms of skill acquisition through advanced training, international and intersectoral mobility.

 

Types

European Fellowships are held in EU Member States or Associated Countries and are open to researchers either coming to Europe or moving within Europe.

  • Standard European Fellowships
  • Career Restart Panel (CAR): is a multidisciplinary panel which provides financial support to individual researchers who want to resume research in Europe after a career break.
  • Reintegration Panel (RI): is a multidisciplinary panel dedicated to researchers who want to return and reintegrate in a longer term research position in Europe.

Global Fellowships are composed of an outgoing phase during which the researcher undertakes a secondment to a partner organisation in a Third Country (TC) for an uninterrupted period of between 12 and 24 months, and a mandatory 12-month return period to a host organisation (the beneficiary) located in a MS or AC

Durada: <ul> <li><span style="text-decoration: underline;">European Fellowships:</span> &nbsp;between <strong>12 and 24 months</strong>.</li> <li><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Global Fellowships:</span> there is a first outgoing phase between 12 and 24 months, and an additional mandatory 12 months return phase, so the total duration of this type of fellowship is between <strong>24 and 36 months</strong>.</li> </ul>

Academic and non academic organisations established in a MS or AC.

 

Eligibility

 

Researchers

  • Be an Experienced Researcher (be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience.)
  • Comply with the standard mobility rule*.
  • Be of any nationality.No age restrictions apply.

EF - Career Restart Panel (CAR):

  • Comply with the CAR mobility rule*.
  • Have undertaken a career break in research: have not been active in research for at least 12 months immediately prior to the deadline for submission of proposals.
EF - Reintegration Panel (RI)
  • Be a national or long-term resident of the MS or AC (have spent at least 5 consecutive years in one or more MSs or ACs).
  • Comply with the RI mobility rule*.
*Standard mobility rule: the researcher must not have resided or carried out the main activity in the country of his/her host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline for submission of proposals (See the exceptions in the call).
*CAR/RI Mobility rule: the researcher must not have resided or carried out the main activity in the country of his/her host organisation for more than 36 months in the 5 years immediately prior to the deadline for submission of proposals (See the exceptions in the call).
Global Fellowships
  • Be a national or long-term resident of the MS or AC (have spend at least 5 consecutive years in one or more MSs or ACs).
  • The researcher must not have resided or carried out the main activity in the TC where the initial outgoing phase takes place for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline for submission of proposals.(See the exceptions in the call).
Beneficiaries:
 
European Fellowships
  • Be a participant located in a MS or AC.

Global fellowships

  • Be located in an MS or AC.
  • The partner organisation must be situated in a TC and is the entity where the initial compulsory outgoing phase takes place. It can be from the academic or non-academic sector.

Proposals in this call must be submitted exclusively electronically, using the electronic submission service of the Commission accessible from the call page on the Participant Portal.

Part A: certain administrative details that will be used in the evaluation and further processing of your proposal.

Part B: details of the work you intend to carry out.

Informació addicional:

During the implementation of the fellowship the researcher may be seconded to another institution in Europe. Such secondments must significantly contribute to the impact of the fellowship and therefore in certain research fields would be expected to take place in the non-academic sector.
The organisation where the secondment takes place is a partner organisation and must be located in the MS or AC.

 

Evaluation

All eligible proposals will be evaluated under eight major areas of research: Chemistry (CHE); Social Sciences and Humanities (SOC); Economic Sciences (ECO), Information Science and Engineering (ENG); Environmental and Geosciences (ENV); Life Sciences (LIF); Mathematics (MAT), and Physics (PHY).  The standard European Fellowships and Global Fellowships will have a ranking list for each of these eight (8) areas. For the CAR, RI, and SE* panels, one multidisciplinary ranking list for each will be created. 

 

*The Society & Enterprise Panel is a multidisciplinary panel of the European Fellowships dedicated to career opportunities for researchers seeking to work on research and innovation projects in an organisation from the non-academic sector.  The SE panel has its own earmarked budget of €10 million.

 

Excellence (50%)

  • Quality and credibility of the research/innovation project; level of novelty, appropriate consideration of inter/multidisciplinary and gender aspects.
  • Quality and appropriateness of the training and of the two way transfer of knowledge between the researcher and the host.
  • Quality of the supervision.
  • Capacity of the researcher to reach or re-enforce a position of professional maturity in research.

Impact (30%)

  • Enhancing the potential and future career prospects of the researcher.
  • Quality of the proposed measures to exploit and disseminate the project results.
  • Quality of the proposed measures to communicate the project activities to different target audiences.

Implementation (20%)

  • Overall coherence and effectiveness of the work plan.
  • Appropriateness of the allocation of tasks and resources.
  • Appropriateness of the management structure and procedures, including risk management.
  • Appropriateness of the institutional environment (infrastructure).
